Susan Bispham
I am a freelance translator and translate from German and French into my native language, English.
Following my Modern Languages degree in European Studies (German and French) at the University of Bath in England, I worked for the National Westminster Bank for eight years in various branches and central departments (marketing, advertising, international strategy and financial control of subsidiaries and affiliates). I also have diplomas in banking (ACIB) and marketing (ACIM).
I lived in Germany for 26 years and have recently returned to my home country. In Germany, I first worked as an employed translator, then as a freelance English language trainer (TEFL Diploma) and later as an employed translator and writer for a publishing company operating in the Business Tourism sector. Here I was responsible for writing and preparing a regular newsletter for event planners and jointly responsible for producing an annual international hotel guide for event planners.
I have been a freelance translator and English language trainer since 2008. I am a member of the German federal association of Interpreters and Translators (BDÜ) and a qualified member of the UK Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI).
The promotion of international friendship and understanding is particularly important to me. In this connection, I was a member of a German choir for many years and helped to arrange regular twinning visits with an English choir. I am also very interested in culture and history and work as a tour guide in a stately home in the summer.
